Another fortnight

Here is another update of work from the last two weeks. Well, two or three may be older than that, but I still want to share them.
This kid had the most amazing emotions during his reading/writing tutoring session in DeKalb, Ill. This was how he reacted when he correctly wrote the letter “G.”

Winter sports portraits – 2010

Portraits are so hit or miss for me. Sometimes I can walk away from a shoot more pumped than a documentary assignment. Others, I sweat bullets and get anxious before I am even done shooting. Thankfully, this season’s crop of portraits was mostly anxiety free.

Athletes of the year

Not many sports going on, so profiles of athletes are abound. Recently I shot the athletes of the year, which is different from the “seasonal players of the year” such as in Winter or Spring.
These kids may not be the best at their sport, but they demonstrated true athleticism and sportsmanship in multiple sports.

Spring sports portraits

To save on time, I decided not to shoot these on location like last time. Instead, I had each player meet me in my “studio.” By “studio” I mean a small open space in the warehouse of my office’s building.
