9/11 Memorial in Union City for S.F. Chronicle

The Bay Area has a unfortunately close relationship with the terrorist attacks of September 11. United flight 93 destinations was San Francisco, and thus several passengers on board were from the area. In 2007, a memorial was built for the 40 victims of United 93 in Union City

NIU shootings memorial

Today was the one year anniversary of the shootings at Northern Illinois University which took the lives of 6 students, including the gunman. So far in my three months of being a photographer here in DeKalb, I have been on NIU’s campus numerous times. It is possibly the strongest focal point of the city’s community.
