Winter sports portraits – 2010

Portraits are so hit or miss for me. Sometimes I can walk away from a shoot more pumped than a documentary assignment. Others, I sweat bullets and get anxious before I am even done shooting. Thankfully, this season’s crop of portraits was mostly anxiety free.

Busy weekend

Hinckley-Big Rock won two very close games to win their second class 1A state championship. My weekend began Friday morning with a road trip with two writers from the Daily Chronicle heading down to Bloomington, Ill., to cover three state tournament games: 2 basketball, 1 wrestling.

Only a few more games until the end of the high school baseball season. I can’t say I am excited for the end, but I am looking forward to shooting the portraits for the players of the year for each sport in the theme I cooked up a few weeks ago.
